AGE DIVISION DEFINITIONS 2025-2026 SEASON
We recommend that you Try out for your GRADE (Fall of 2025)
18U Division/Seniors: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2007, or players who were born on or after July 1, 2006, and are a high school student during some part of the current academic year.
17U Division/Juniors: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2008
16U Division/Sophomore: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2009
15U Division/Freshman: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2010
14U Division/8th Grade: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2011
13U Division/7th Grade: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2012
12U Division/6th Grade: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2013
11U Division/5th Grade: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2014
10U Division/4th Grade: Players must still be 10 by July 1, 2026
SPECIAL NOTE ~ 10/11U PLAYERS IN 4TH/5TH GRADE CAN PLAY ON 10U TEAMS AS BEGINNERS
If you have an athlete that is 12 based on the AAU age classifications but is in 7th grade, they should try out for 13U
If you have an athlete that is 14 based on the AAU age classifications but is in 8th grade, they should try out for 14U
If you have an athlete that is 14 based on the AAU age classifications but is in 9th grade, they should try out for 15U
MJVBA Modifications - For Michigan Only
This will allow those players who have early summer birthdays to compete with their age grouping but will not allow those students who are a full year ahead in age & physical maturity to compete in a lesser age division.
No age waivers are allowed at the National Championships or Super Regionals.
