New AAU Age Definitions (2021 - 2022)
Trying to understand what age division you should try out for can be difficult to figure out. Here is how we do it....
The age you will be next year on June 30th, 2022, makes you eligible to play in that age group or an older age group.
Players are allowed to play up in an older age division, but are not allowed to play down in age
Once an athlete participates in a club or varsity program for any university, college, community college or junior college, they are ineligible to play in the National Championships.
MJVBA Modifications - For Michigan Only
This will allow those players who have early summer birthdays to compete with their age grouping but will not allow those students who are a full year ahead in age & physical maturity to compete in a lesser age division.
To allow waived players on a team official documentation as to their grade for the current school year will be required such as a report card. There is no need to apply for a waiver, this will be determined by the club if a player qualifies.
No age waivers are allowed at the National Championships or Super Regionals.
